RATES

We have found that some guests leave the cottage spotless, with little need to clean, and others leave such a mess that letting becomes an uneconomic exercise especially in low season. To this end (as an experiment) we are letting Beehive Cottage only on a "Leave it as you find it basis" at a considerably reduced tariff. The cost is £250/week and £200 Wed evening to Sat evening inclusive Low Season. Mid Season Lets from May to July are £300/week and £250 for a long weekend. High Season costs £450/week and £400 for a long weekend. There is a £100 deposit to be sent as a cheque which will remain uncashed until after the let when it will be destroyed/returned unless we need to get cleaners in because the cottage has not been left fully cleaned or there has been negligent or wanton damage. Pillows and Quilts are provided but towels, covers and sheets must be brought.

THE COTTAGE WILL BE CHECKED BEFORE NEW GUESTS ARRIVE TO ENSURE THAT THE COTTAGE IS CLEAN AND TIDY FOR THEM..Also we will still keep on top of our thorough deep cleaning and maintenance schedule.

The cleaning schedule should not be onerous and the checklist is:-
1/ The fridge/freezer if it has been used is empty of all foodstuffs, and has been wiped over with a clean fridge wipe.
2/ All the pots have been washed/dried and put away.
3/ The is no food or drink left in the kitchen, and all surfaces have been wiped over.
4/ The cooker, oven and microwave, including trays are as clean as you find them.
5/The ashes from the log burning stove have been put in the outside steel bin.
6/ All the rubbish has been removed from the cottage and left for the binman in the bags provided.
7/ The bedrooms are left as you found them, with nothing left in bins or on the floor.
8/ If there are any spillages they should be mopped clean with a damp mop.
9/ Any dirt trodden into the cottage or dropped must be vacuumed or otherwised cleaned up
10/Tables must be wiped with clean cloth.
11/ Any beds or furniture relocated (usually so children are together) is put back.
12/ The bath (if it has been used) is cleaned and the toilet seat is wiped clean.

WE DON'T EXPECT A SPRING CLEAN...JUST THAT THE COTTAGE IS LEFT AS YOU FOUND IT.

The cleaning required can be kept very low by simple measures such as keeping footwear at the door, and wearing slippers in the cottage. Cleaning ovens is hard work so using the top cooker rings and microwave helps keep things easy. If you are cooking in the oven using the oven roasing bags helps considerably. Wiping it down before re-use helps prevent burning previous deposits onto its surface. Also eating in the kitchen and not in the bedrooms helps, especially with children. The above is only advice from our experience with cleaning the cottage. It is your holiday, so why make unnecessary work or expense.
